Description

Job���������s Purpose:
This person will be responsible for delivering SQL Server support for all Microsoft customers. Their primary focus will be ensuring that all Microsoft customers are very satisfied with the effectiveness and efficiency of the support they receive. Utilizing knowledge of the customer environment, they will deliver timely and high quality incident resolution focusing on root cause analysis, prevention, and knowledge transfer. They will effectively manage cases and sub-cases to ensure timely and high quality communication with customers and resolution of all issues. They will develop a relationship with their technical peers for the technology they support and related technologies in order to ensure improved collaboration and satisfaction in support.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Communicate with corporate customers via telephone, written correspondence, or electronic service regarding problems identified in Microsoft SQL Server software.
• Analyze problems and develop solutions to meet customer needs; may involve writing code.
• Participate in daily triage meetings to share knowledge with other engineers and develop efficient customer solutions.
• Learn prerelease products in area(s) of support responsibility in order to support them when released
• Identify and report both software bugs and customer suggestions.
• Write technical articles and sample programs for Microsoft's knowledge base.
• Learn entire product or product family supported and continually improve personal knowledge and skills.

Skills/Knowledge:

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft������ SQL Server ������ and Windows 2000 Server and Windows 2000 Professional
• Programming experience in Visual C++
• Strong knowledge of personal computer architecture and network architecture.
• Excellent demonstrated customer service skills
• Good Communication Skills ��������� Spoken and written English (including technical writing).
• Works well in a team environment
• Effective learning skills Preferred.
• MCP Certified in at least one of the Windows������ Server Operating Systems
• MCP Certified in at least one of the SQL Server 2000 exams
• Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and/or Microsoft Certified Database Administrator certification
• Similar Certifications in other high end RDBMS product.

Experience

1. Strong Relational Database Management Systems experience
2. Strong problem solving background.

Preferred:

Training perspective
The description of the program covered over the period of 3 years is given below:

Year 1
During the first year the program, these trainees go through a 3 month program on various technologies required in the FMG technology area such as:

Desktop Support based on Microsoft technologies

Microsoft server technologies this training revolves around the MCSE curriculum and will prepare the trainee for an MCSE certification. The training will also prepare the training for on-the-job training in the Windows area.

Solaris Solaris Level 1 and Level 2 training this training revolves around the Sun Solaris Certification Curriculum. This will prepare the trainee for work in the Unix area

Oracle Database This training provides the trainee into a detailed insight on databases based on an OCA (Oracle Certified Associate) program. This will also prepare the trainee for database administration work in FMG

CCNA this training will provide a detailed view of networking to the trainee and will prepare him for networking operations in FMG

In addition to the above streams, the trainee will also work in FMG operations and be involved in the operational area such as helpdesk, desktop support, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.

Year 2
During Year 2, trainees will undergo training in the data center operations. They will then work in the FMG data center operations area as junior staff. This will not include any data center management work, but will concentrate L1 Support of data center operations. The necessary training to discharge their duties will be provided on need basis. This on-the-job training will give a good perspective on Data Center Management and operations.

Year 3
During Year 3, the trainees shall be involved in L2 and L3 support in data center operations and will carry out system administration tasks. The recruit will undertake L2 and L3 support from a system administration perspective. In addition, they will also participate in system administration activities from a system manager perspective to ensure that they have a good perspective of data center administration from a supervisor point of view.
